Figures in Time 2025

Singapore River 1910 - 1983

Singapore River One (SRO)'s Figures in Time is a series of five wire-art sculptures by local artist Yeo Chee Kiong. Depicting boats, people and the river environment, the works reflect the Singapore River's rich history. Positioned above eye level, the sculptures introduce art to the precinct in an inventive way, encouraging public engagement through interaction, curiosity and a sense of discovery.

By combining classical line drawing with a Website/VR/AR-linked QR code, the proposed sculpture collection is designed to evoke the historical past through multilayered visual elements, integrating both physical and digital dimensions.

Four Young Girls and A Dog | 1983

  •  The image is extracted from a video clip in 1983: Another Day at the Quay, where “four girls and one dog” capture a pleasant and relaxing moment of the young generation before the demolition of the shophouses and residential areas around Boat Quay. It marks the end of an old era, and the young group would go on to live elsewhere. It is intriguing to imagine who they are now in their fifties and what kinds of stories they may share following the demolition in 1983.
